When more than 27 years have passed since its celebration on the island, this 2022, the Congress of the Spanish Society of Stomatological and Aesthetic Prosthetics (SEPES) returns to Gran Canaria. The event, which will take place from the 13th to the 15th of October next, will feature a very ambitious line-up both in terms of the number of speakers and the quality of the presentations, with a program specially designed around the evolution of restorative treatments from a interdisciplinary, as explained by the president of this long-awaited scientific event, Dr. José Manuel Navarro. Finally, Dr. Navarro, the SEPES Congress returns to Gran Canaria. What does this return to your beloved island mean for you and for the Society? This congress has been a long-distance race for SEPES since it began to take shape back in 2015 when Dr. Nacho Rodríguez conveyed to me his desire to bring a SEPES congress back to Gran Canaria. With the preparation, exhaustion and satisfaction that every long-distance race entails, having worked on the congress with several Boards of Directors, we are finally here, on the verge of returning after 27 years to celebrate a great congress of our society in Gran Canaria. After everything that has happened, the power, finally, to carry out the congress practically as it had been planned at the beginning and, in addition, to commemorate, although two years late, the anniversary of the 25th congress that my father presided over in Great Canaria, is a double satisfaction for me.“50+1 years together; How did we do it?How do we do it?How will we do it?"points to the past, present and future of Dentistry. In a concrete way, how will this evolution be reflected in the scientific program? It is a program specially designed around the evolution of restorative treatments from an interdisciplinary approach. All the speakers have been asked to develop specific topics, always following the connecting thread of the congress; How did we do it?How do we do it?How will we do it?In addition, on this anniversary, we have also wanted to integrate a session that we have called "Evolution Track", in which professionals from several generations of the same family will show how they jointly approach cases in an interdisciplinary way, how they have been doing it until now, how they are currently dealing with these cases and how they anticipate doing so in the near future. The three-day program is structured around the motto Past, Present, Future of Dentistry. What lessons can be applied to daily clinical practice by those attending the SEPES Gran Canaria Congress? We cannot say that congresses are the ideal forums to acquire practical knowledge given the limited time of the presentations, but they are a good platform to discover where Dentistry is going, both in our closest environment and internationally.Congresses generally motivate us and help us understand that in our profession we must continually update ourselves and for this the continuing education courses, congresses and seminars offered by scientific societies are essential.Recently, at Expodental 2022 I had the opportunity to introduce the Artificial Intelligence technology for diagnosis in X-rays that I have been getting to know from the hand of my friend Dr. Kyle Stanley from Los Angeles, California. At SEPES Gran Canaria, we will have the opportunity to see him, who has been developing this technology for years, currently the only one accepted by the FDA for the diagnosis of X-rays through the use of Artificial Intelligence.A luxury for the attendees.Of course, in the program of the congress we will also have several workshops that, in a practical way, will teach us current techniques. In the evolution track session, several generations of the same family will show how they jointly approach cases in an interdisciplinary way.Which speakers are on the poster for the 50+1 SEPES Congress? We have opted for a very ambitious poster both in number of speakers, more than 60, and in the requirement that the presentations have been created for this anniversary of SEPES.I am not going to dwell on naming the more than sixty clinicians who will be present, but I do think it is important to point out that we will have several who will speak for the first time in Spain. This is the case of the Australian Tony Rotondo, the Americans Rick Roblee and Kyle Stanley, or the Brazilian Gustavo Giordani, among others. All of them are great clinicians who will give a lot to talk about from now on.Of course, I cannot fail to mention my mentor, Dennis Tarnow, who has contributed so much to world dentistry and who will receive the SEPES Honorary Member award for his magnificent career;giving us a master session on the evolution of post-extraction alveoli treatments and who will also be in charge of introducing and moderating an attractive session that with the suggestive name of "Battle of concepts" will bring together in the same ring great experts such as our partner Eduardo Anitua, recently proposed as a candidate for the 2022 Princess of Asturias Awards;and doctors Alberto Sicilia, Tidu Mankoo or Rony Jung, who will show us how they propose to solve the same clinical case using different techniques.Without a doubt, another of the star sessions of this congress. What professional profiles in Dentistry is this scientific appointment aimed at?Given the interdisciplinary nature of the program, the profile of the assistant is equally varied. The different areas of clinical dentistry are covered.Laboratory technicians will also have specific sessions in which restorative treatments will be addressed from a clinical-technical approach.Hygienists and auxiliary staff will also have content of interest in the specific day that we have designed for them on Saturday, and in which they will be able to update themselves on the role they can play in the digital flow of the clinic.Top-level science and clinic, a dream location, a lively social program... If there is still a professional who has doubts about traveling to Gran Canaria, what would they say?Well, I would say that SEPES GRAN CANARIA is a gift, both because of the incomparable rate of €50+1 that we wanted to offer to members and members of the Canary Islands, with the effort that this entails for society, and because after these two years so hard we have been through we deserve a meeting with friends in which we can enjoy a great scientific congress in a unique environment such as Gran Canaria. Our idea is to return to face-to-face congresses in relaxed environments, away from masks, and where we can enjoy parallel recreational activities with our friends and colleagues in an environment of sun, beach and sea, during a long weekend.I have no choice but to encourage you not to miss the 50+1 SEPES congress in Gran Canaria from October 13 to 15.Login to leave a commentThis website uses its own and third-party cookies to improve the user experience, perform user navigation analysis, show advertising related to your preferences and improve our services. If you continue browsing, we consider that you reject the use of cookies, and navigation errors or display problems of certain contents may occur. For more information, consult our cookies policy in advance.
