Optimise protocols to manage infection risks in the changing environment
Suitable for all members of the dental team, this program will particularly benefit registered dental practitioners of all types and dental assistants, especially those who have not undertaken a recent infection control course.
This brand new course addresses the key hot topics in infection prevention and control in 2022, and flags areas in which there have been significant changes over 2021 and 2022. The course also provides up to date information on coronavirus infections and viral influenza and their impacts on dental infection control measures that are relevant going into the near future.
Major areas of change in the ADA 4th edition 2021 Guidelines for Infection Prevention and Control will be discussed, and the ADA Principles for Managing COVID and its hierarchy of control measures will be explained. The impact of changes in Dental Board of Australia policies for infection control will be examined, and recent and forthcoming changes in Australian standards will be discussed in terms of how these will influence the dental practice setting.
A discussion of practice design aspects that enhance infection prevention and control will be included, drawing on the presenter’s considerable experience in the design of dental clinics from small to large sizes. As well, there is as a summary of recent Australian dental research into COVID-19 and how that information helps to inform risk assessments for dental practice.
The content of this course has been fully updated for 2022 and is delivered in a series of videos (total 5 hours), which participants watch over a period of 4 weeks from early June, before an online live question and answer session. This ensures that participants have the opportunity to work through all the videos before the plenary question session in late June 2022.
