CHARLOTTE, N.C., US/BENSHEIM, Germany: Dentsply Sirona has announced its launch of DS Core, an open platform built on Google Cloud that integrates the company’s whole digital dentistry workflow. It is intended to free up time for dental practices by streamlining processes and communication between clinicians, laboratories and even patients. The company has also announced its DS Core Care and DS Core Create services and further services for its Primeprint Solution. These programs are to work seamlessly with previously released Dentsply Sirona software solutions.

In an online press event attended by over 50,000 people, Dentsply Sirona emphasised that the new subscription-based offerings had a very important feature in common: security. Even when files are transferred to external users without a subscription, Dentsply Sirona said that all files will still maintain the same level of security and at no extra cost. All DS Core subscriptions will support file sharing and cloud storage that are compliant with EU and US data protection laws. Subscription fees will vary between countries.

“We are very proud that we are now ready to take the next step in our mission to make digital dentistry easy to integrate into dental offices. In line with our recently launched collaboration with Google Cloud, this enables seamless workflows and the highest level of connectivity with the ultimate goal in mind: the best treatment outcome for patients,” said Dr Cord Staehler, chief technology officer at Dentsply Sirona.

DS Core Create will enable practitioners to delegate the design process for a broad range of indications while still maintaining fast turnaround times. The program is integrated with Primeprint Solution and all past and present designs are easily accessible on the cloud. The software requires an 15-minute evaluation time for most scans and will let the clinician know whether the initial scans were sufficient for design creation before the patient even leaves the chair.

Adding DS Core Care to the subscription line-up should mean an enhanced customer experience with more equipment uptime. Providing easier access to scans and results, the program will also improve communication between the practice and patients.

Because all data is saved to the cloud, no separate software download is required for the new offerings, and all scans and data can be accessed by any device with an Internet connection. Dentsply Sirona also announced plans to support practices in eliminating the need for maintaining bulky file servers and already offers a subscription level with a 15 TB capacity storage service.

Primeprint Solution is a 3D-printing hardware and software system. Each step of its production and post-production process requires very little, if any, human input to fabricate a high-quality, patient-ready product. Primeprint Solution, which utilises digital light processing, employs a print process that was designed according to US Food and Drug Administration guidelines. Practitioners can now offer quick replacement services for patients who lose or break a printed piece by simply reprinting a saved design.

The DS Core range is compatible with all common external scan file formats. These programs work seamlessly with previously released Dentsply Sirona software solutions.
