The Health Council has approved the maintenance of biomedical equipment and the purchase of medical equipment to provide medical facilities to the public.

Over Rs10 million will be spent on the repair, maintenance and purchase of medical machinery, as was discussed during the 21st meeting of the Health Council held at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Malik Ahmad Faraz Awan, District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Usman, members of the Health Council and officers of related departments all participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the purchase of a phototherapy machine, a chemistry analyzer, an electrolyte analyzer, hamlet plus, baby warmers, OT portable lights, a suction machine, a dental unit and other medical equipment were approved under the repair of biomedical equipment.

The deputy commissioner stated the scarcity of medicines in the hospital will not be tolerated and ordered doctors to pay full attention to patients, cleanliness and hygiene.

The DC urged doctors to play their active role in providing medical facilities and urged the health CEO to monitor the doctors’ performance daily.

He said he would conduct surprise inspections of hospitals and review the provision of medical facilities and other issues.

The DC also gave a stern warning, stating that strict action will be taken on complaints of absent doctors and other health staff, lack of interest in providing medical facilities and ill-treatment of patients and family members.

He also stressed the transparent use of funds and use following legal requirements.

Additionally, the DC ordered the installation of a water turbine and RO plant in the hospital as soon as possible and urged the Chief Municipal Officer to oblige sanitation staff to collect garbage from the district headquarters hospital in time.
